Swimming & Chairs

We have a climber on our hands!!!  Who would have thought that Hudson would be climbing everything at 16 months...  Every time I turn my back, I find him up on one of these chairs, the bar stools, the bar, or the table.
Below is a picture of Corbin in his swimming lessons.  This kid is such a fish!!!

Soccer

This year was Corbin's first year to play soccer.  When Jeremy went to sign him up, he was told that the team needed a coach, so Jeremy agreed.
The team decided to call themselves the Rockstars.
Here he is after scoring a goal.  I thought the falling opponent adds dramatic effect.
I had to have the team picture.
Corbin enjoyed soccer and is excited to play again next spring.  Jeremy said that even though there were tears, he enjoyed being a part of it as well.

Happy 4th Birthday Corbin

Corbin's birthday was on a Tuesday and Jeremy had to work.  He was so excited that I decided to let him open a present to hold him over until Jeremy got home.

We had his four year check-up in May and here were the stats:
Height 3 feet 8 inches 99%
Weight 41 lbs 80 %
Jeremy met us at Corbin's swimming lessons, and Corbin was able to pick where he wanted to go for his birthday dinner.
He picked Texas Roadhouse.  This is his favorite place to eat.  He loved the attention given to him and the fact that they had him get up on the saddle.
After dinner, we went home and he was able to open some more presents.

He was so happy with all of his gifts.
We sure love Corbin.   I am not sure I am loving his vocabulary when it comes to talking back and being sassy, but I guess that just comes with age.  He is always wanting to make some kind of deal with us.  He is so smart and remembers everything, (which is not always a good thing).  He makes friends really easy and has never met a stranger.   He loves Preschool and his teachers say he is a joy to have.
I asked him some questions and wanted to keep them for future reference.

1.  What is your favorite color? - Green
2.  What is your favorite toy? - Big remote control Jeep from Grandma Patti and Grandpa Larry
3.  What is your favorite fruit? - Apples

Just Hanging Out

I received a cape and mask as a White Elephant gift.  The boys were more than happy to take it off my hands.
Super Corbin at your service...
and, "The Head" is here to help...
It is funny what things you can do to have fun with little boys.  Most of the time, it's the thing you wouldn't think about that they enjoy the most...

Preschool Halloween Party

Corbin was so excited to show off his costume at his preschool Halloween party.

His teacher had each kid get up on a little pedestal to show off their costume.
Corbin was more than happy to show off the costume.

First day of Preschool

Corbin started his first day of preschool on August 17.
He goes three days a week for three hours and loves it.
Corbin is such a social child, I never really had to worry about him getting along at preschool or missing us too much.  He just couldn't wait to go.
Here he is with his teacher Miss Shelly.
(I know this is bragging, but it is something I want to remember for later on)
We were suggested this preschool by a neighbor, and a few weeks after school had started, Miss Shelly told our neighbor that she can recommend any kids she wants as long as they are like Corbin.

Swimming Lessons

Corbin took some outdoor swimming lessons this year and did so great!  He loved his swimming lessons
It didn't take long at all for him to be okay with putting his face in the water and swimming along.

Corbin and the other boys were always asking their teacher if they could jump off the diving board into the pool.
Corbin did so well that by the end of the summer, he could go swimming with us without a life jacket at all.  He still talks about going to "Miss Nicole's" and wants to go again next year.

New Pictures

Get ready for some picture overload...  One of Jeremy's coworkers used to have a photography business and offered to take pictures of the boys.  We thought it would be nice to have 3-year pictures of Corbin and 6-month pictures of Hudson...  We think they are pretty cute, but we are biased.

1st Trip to the Dentist

We took Corbin to the dentist for the first time in December.  We had talked about it for a while, so he was excited to go.  After a short introduction, the dentist got to work and quickly told Corbin that he didn't have any cavities at all and all that was left was a cleaning.

Corbin knew that I have my camera with me all the time, and asked me to take a picture for his dad that was at work.  He had to show off the sun glasses that the dentist gave him to use while he had his teeth cleaned.  He loved that he could wear sun glasses and watch TV, all while the cleaning took place.  What a trooper...

A Fish Named Corbin

We are fortunate enough to have a swimming pool in our neighborhood and Corbin and I found that to be a great retreat over the summer.  We were able to go to the pool about 3-4 times a week.  Jeremy would join us 1-2 times a week after work.

We bought Corbin a little life jacket.  He was a little awkward at first with it, but quickly learned how to maneuver and swim on his own with it.
One of Corbin's favorite things to do is to have his dad throw him up into the air and catch him once he lands in the water.  He would constantly ask Jeremy to "do the jumper."
We had a great time at the pool this year.  Corbin progressed a ton in terms of swimming(with his life jacket).  He even did alright without it a time or two.  It will be interesting to see how he continues to progress next year when the pool opens up again.

Big Boy Bed

Moving and trying to transition a boy from a crib to a bed is a bit of a daunting task.  We were trying to decide how to do all of that at once.  I decided to go for it and we bought Corbin a new "big boy bed" when we moved into our new house.  I was worried that the transition would not be smooth, but it was amazingly easy.  The first few times, he didn't even get out of bed in the morning.  He would stay in his bed and call for us from there.  We would come into his room and tell him that he could get out, a he would climb down.  Now he gets up in the morning and comes into our bedroom to see if we are awake.

The move to the new house was surprisingly smooth.  I would credit that to the fact that my parents came up from Utah and helped for a good week.  Jeremy was amazed at the progress.  He would go to work and when he came back in the evening, the house was more and more put together.  My dad even went as far as refinishing two bedroom sets of furniture for us.  They were a great help.

Children's Museum

While Mandy and her family were visiting this summer, we went to the Children's Museum.  It was fun because we had never been there before.  Corbin Loved it, but somehow we didn't get any pictures of the whole group together.

Corbin wasn't exactly thrilled to be on the bed of nails.  I had to snap this picture before he hopped off.

We had a lot of fun with Mandy and her boys.  Too bad Steve was in Spokane for most of it

Broken

Corbin has been so easy to deal with.  The only thing that we have had a problem with is his binki.  I wouldn't call it a problem.  He would only have it in his bed or in his carseat on long trips.  The problem occurred that Corbin learned to climb into his bed specifically so he could have his binki.  Two week ago, I had enough and decided to cut up the binki in front of him.  All other binkis were placed out of sight.  He realized that the binki was no longer any good and went about his way.  Since then, he's had only one melt-down about the binki.  He has asked for the binki, but now says "binki broken."  I think we held onto the binki more for me than for him, but we are luckily now to be past that phase.

At the same time, Corbin has learned to climb out of his crib along with learning to climb in.  He will randomly run up to his crib and climb in just to play and show off.  The funny thing is, he will wake up from a nap or from the night's sleep and wait for us to come get him out.  Jeremy and I will walk into the room and tell him to climb out, but he won't get out unless told to do so.

The other day while working, the babysitter came down and asked about when to put Corbin down for a nap.  While asking, Corbin decided for himself.  He ran up to the Pack N Play and climbed in and wouldn't come out.  A few minutes later, he was fast asleep.

Fun At Casey and Stacy's

A little while ago, we went to see Casey and Stacy. We thought it would be good to see them and the girls and it had been a while since they had seen Corbin.

Corbin loved riding on the four-wheeler with Chey. She kept taking him around the yard and he would wave to us watching him.

Then it was Codi's turn. She broke out the Hot Wheels Jeep and the two drove around the yard. every time Corbin would lean away from her, she would put her arm across him and make sure that he was safe. While there, Chey decided to have a little photo shoot with Corbin. He sure loves those girls...
