Late Christmas

We had Christmas Morning on the evening of December 27.  I stayed in the hospital since Hudson was still in the hospital, but then was released to go home two days after Christmas.  Once I was released, we hurried home to celebrate Christmas before going back for a feeding.

This was Corbin's second Christmas Morning.  Corbin was lucky to spend Christmas with Jeremy's parents and with Jeremy's sister Kristin and her family.  Santa came to Kristin's house and our house.(Thanks Kris!!!)

Corbin had looked at this track that has little cars to race.  He was so excited to see that Santa did bring him the track.
Everyone got slippers this year. Corbin got Lightning McQueen slippers and wore them constantly for the next two weeks.  He even had to wear them to bed.
He was very excited to see that he got a basketball hoop.  He practices indoors for now...

We had to include a picture of Hudson on the day we celebrated Christmas.  Here is Hudson just before we left the hospital to open presents.  This was also the first day that Corbin got to see Hudson.  We were able to bring Hudson to the door of the NICU and show Corbin through the glass.  Corbin had a cold, so he couldn't actually go into the NICU.

I had been so excited as Christmas drew near.  I'll admit I was very disappointed when I realized that I would be spending Christmas in the hospital, but thanks to all of the family that helped us out, we all had a great Christmas (even late) and had a special present in Hudson.

Hudson Chase Pratt

On December 23, I woke up to a bit of a surprise.  My water broke just after Jeremy left for work.  I tried to call him, but didn't reach him until he got to his office and had to come all the way back.  I was surprised to be going into labor.  I was still 3 1/2 weeks away from when the doctor had said that I was due.

Jeremy came home and took me to the hospital.  I had already contacted Jeremy's mom and she met us at the hospital to watch Corbin.  We went in and were greeted by the on-call doctor who stated that I would need to have another C-section.  I had an amneo earlier that week to see if the baby's lungs were developed enough and had been told they weren't so we were a little concerned.

It wasn't long before Hudson Chase was born.  He was 9 pounds 3 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long.  He was a huge baby, especially considering how early he was.

We quickly found out that Hudson's lungs were under-developed and that he was going to need some help and time to develop his lungs. Once I was out and in my room, the NICU doctor came in and told us that Hudson needed to be transferred to the Downtown hospital that was better suited for his lung issue and that I would also be transferred.
Hudson and I ended up staying at the hospital for a while.  He had some initial hurdles in terms of lung development, which prevented us from being able to hold him until Christmas Day.  We were so excited to be able to hold him at last. We couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.  The nurses kept telling us how good he was and that he was such a cuddler.
While in the NICU, Hudson had to have some light treatment for jaundice, and got to wear these great glasses.
He looked so cute in his pjs and hat.  It made it difficult that he was always connected to monitors to make sure that his breathing and heart beat were okay.

My mom came up the day after Christmas to help us with everything.  She was an amazing help.  Once I was out of the hospital, we had to come back about every three hours and do feedings.  Having Mom here helped so much with watching Corbin, going with me, and just helping things stay in order while we were constantly going back and forth.

After I had been out of the hospital a while, they transferred Hudson back to the hospital where he was born, which was much closer to our house.  It made it much easier to go in and do the feedings.
Jeremy's mom and sister came on New Year's Eve and got to help feed him in his room.

The last benchmark that Hudson had to reach was eating.  He had gone through so much trauma and had lost weight and needed to have a consistent period of eating enough that the doctor wouldn't be worried about him going home.

Let it Snow...

We were happy to come home from Utah to a little snow.  When we were driving to Utah and just got out of the "blizzard" that was heading south, Corbin started to cry because it wasn't snowing any more.  Well not long after getting home, it really snowed.

The night after all of the snow, Jeremy and Corbin went outside to play.  By play I mean that Corbin was playing and Jeremy was shoveling the driveway and sidewalks.  Here are just a few pictures of Corbin at play outside.
Corbin loves the snow.  He loved to climb up and sit on the "snow mountain" that Jeremy created from shoveling.

1st Trip to the Dentist

We took Corbin to the dentist for the first time in December.  We had talked about it for a while, so he was excited to go.  After a short introduction, the dentist got to work and quickly told Corbin that he didn't have any cavities at all and all that was left was a cleaning.

Corbin knew that I have my camera with me all the time, and asked me to take a picture for his dad that was at work.  He had to show off the sun glasses that the dentist gave him to use while he had his teeth cleaned.  He loved that he could wear sun glasses and watch TV, all while the cleaning took place.  What a trooper...

Kylee & Sage Visit

Kylee and Sage rode back with us from our Utah Thanksgiving trip.  The pictures below are the only times that we broke out the camera...

When Corbin came in and heard the bath running, he wanted to be a part of it.  I'll be able to give him a hard time in 20 years when he is getting ready to marry Sage and we can tell him that he already saw her naked...
Corbin was hamming it up with Sage.  It took a little while, but we got her to crack a smile.  We had such a good time with Kylee and Sage shopping, and just hanging out.

Zack came up the Friday after we got here and they all headed home that Sunday.  We had a great time and can't wait to hang out again...

Seeing Santa

Corbin got to see Santa twice this year.  We had a ward party earlier in December and Jeremy got to wait in line for a good 45 minutes so that Corbin could tell Santa that he wanted a car.  Santa helped him a little and it ended up being a remote control car.

Later that month, we went to the mall and Corbin was able to see Santa again.  This time he told Santa that he wanted a remote controlled car...

Previous visits with Santa resulted in a little fear on Corbin's part, but I think it is safe to say that he is well beyond the shy phase of life.
Corbin was so excited to see Santa two times before Christmas and couldn't wait to until Santa brought his remote controlled car...

Temple Square

We went to Utah for Thanksgiving this year since we won't be there for Christmas.  It took us a little longer to get there this year due to the weather, but we got there...

We were able to spend a lot of time with family for Thanksgiving and do some shopping.  I didn't get any pictures of that.  One thing that we were able to do was go with some of the family to Temple Square to see the Christmas lights.

It was nice to spend time with family on this trip.  The part of getting to and back were not ideal, but it was well worth it...

Movie Night

Jeremy and I were trying to decide what to do for the upcoming Friday night, and Jeremy had a good idea:  Family Movie Night...  We ordered pizza and made cookies and popcorn and watched a movie for Corbin.  Jeremy set up the family room with all of the pillows in the house and he and Corbin cuddled on them.

I was surprised at how well Corbin did with the movie.  He is only two years old...  He did great and really enjoyed his movie night.  He keeps asking when we are going to have another.  We've told him that we should have a few Christmas Movie Nights before Christmas Day...

The House

We had some people ask for some pictures of our house, so I thought I'd put some up.  We moved in at the end of July and love the neighborhood.  It is nice to be close to everything, and now we even have a Cafe Rio close by...
One of the things we love most about the house is the kitchen.  We have cupboards that we are just barely finding things for.  We didn't have nearly enough cupboards in our old house.
The dining area and Family room are right off the kitchen area.

This is a picture of the entry. I have a craft room just off the entry and there is a bathroom just past that.

Off behind the garage is our guest room area.
Between the hallway and the guest area, there is this room.  It was labeled the guest sitting area in the floor plans, but we thought it would make a nice office area.  We put in a desk that allows us both to be at each of our computers at once.
This is Corbin's bathroom upstairs next to his room.

This is the upstairs family room.

Here is Corbin's room.  The house was all one color when we first moved in, but Jeremy painted Corbin's room green and we had the upstairs family room painted a bluish-grey when we had the ceilings painted.  One of Jeremy's next task is to paint the baby's room before he comes.
This is the master bedroom.  We have all the bedrooms, except for the guest area, upstairs.
Here's the view into the bathroom.  Jeremy said that we had to have two sinks after our old house in Pleasant Grove.
His other stipulation was that he needed to have his clothes in the master bedroom instead of across the hallway.  You can see that just beyond the bathroom is our closet, and then there is another room on the other side of that.  The "Private Flex Room," as the plans dubbed it, is where we have our elliptical and a recliner for late nights with the baby.
So there you have it.  We are very happy and consider ourselves blessed to have found a house so quickly that fit us so well.  Once the baby's room is painted and decorated, I'll have to put some pictures of it up on the blog.

Happy Halloween

I know it is December, but Halloween did happen.  Corbin was so excited for Halloween this year.  He was really excited for his monkey costume.  Here he is showing off his loot at the ward trunk-or-treat.
On Halloween Day, we had Jeremy's family over for dinner.  Corbin and Ashton then went trick-or-treating to our circle.  Here they are posing out front.

We had a great time at dinner, but didn't get any pictures...

The Big 3-0

So this post is late.  Jeremy turned 30 on October 29th.  I have given him a hard time about getting old, but he doesn't seem any older than when we got married.  We were really lucky that we were able to spend most of the day with him.  We got to go to his work and go trick or treating there.

Corbin loved helping his dad open his gifts.

We were able to get a babysitter so we could go to dinner and spend some alone time.  I am lucky to be married to such a great man.  He is a great dad and husband.

Pumpkin Carving

We decided to wait a while before carving the pumpkins so they wouldn't be rotten on Halloween.

Corbin was didn't like pulling out all of the insides of the pumpkins.  Jeremy was a good sport and helped clean them out and then put on the finishing touches.  Corbin did like poking it with the carving tools.

Corbin was so excited to see all of the pumpkins once Jeremy was finished with them all.

We couldn't wait for Halloween to come so we could light the candles inside of them and see them glow.

Pumpkin Patch

We tried to cram in a few activities after the cruise, even though it seemed as though most of the month was gone.  Corbin wanted a pumpkin, and Jeremy found this place that was just down the road from the house.
The first thing we did was go on a hay ride into the pumpkin patch.  We were dropped off at one end and had to carry our pumpkins back.  You can't see Corbin's face, but I think that you can tell he is a little excited about his pumpkin...
After picking our pumpkins, Corbin was able to go on a few rides.  He loved riding the horse.
He also was able to ride in the wagon carrying the pumpkins.  Here you can see some of the excitement.

Later on, Corbin was able to ride in little cow cars being pulled by a tractor.

We had a great time at Farmstead and were so excited to get pumpkins we could carve
